The lavish wedding of Anant Ambani, son of Asia’s richest individual Mukesh Ambani, drew widespread attention for several reasons, notably the presence of Indian celebrities adorned in attire designed by Pakistani fashion designers.
The months-long wedding festivities, attended by Hollywood stars, Bollywood icons, renowned athletes, and business magnates, concluded recently amid extensive international media coverage. Despite the absence of significant Pakistani personalities at the event, outfits by Pakistani designers played a prominent role in the extravagant celebrations.
Notable Pakistani designers whose creations were showcased during the marriage events of the Indian billionaire’s son include Iqbal Hussain, Faraz Manan, and Mohsin Naveed Ranjha.
Actress Alia Bhatt wore a striking black dress by Faraz Manan at the Sangeet ceremony, which received praise across social media for its elegance.
Bollywood star Sara Ali Khan was spotted in an olive-green dress by Iqbal Hussain at the ‘Shubh Vivah’ ceremony, and later dazzled in a long frock and golden lehenga by the same designer at the ‘Shubh Aashirwad’ event. Her attire stirred a bit of controversy on Twitter due to initial oversight in crediting the Pakistani designer.
Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya opted for a light pink outfit designed by Faraz Manan, while Canadian singer AP Dhillon also sported a creation by Manan.
The grand wedding festivities culminated on Saturday as Anant Ambani, 29, and his wife Radhika Merchant tied the knot in Mumbai, hosted at a 16,000-capacity convention center owned by the Ambani conglomerate. The weekend celebrations concluded on Sunday with a reception party.
Earlier events this year included a gala at the Ambani ancestral home featuring the unveiling of a Hindu temple, private performances by Rihanna and Justin Bieber, and notable guests such as Mark Zuckerberg and Ivanka Trump.
In June, the couple embarked on a Mediterranean cruise with 1,200 guests, culminating in a masquerade ball in Cannes where Katy Perry performed.
