Pakistan Stars Likely to Miss Global T20 Canada

In a recent development, it appears that top Pakistani cricketers, including captain Babar Azam, pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, are unlikely to receive a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the upcoming Global T20 Canada league. Despite the league’s schedule from July 25 to August 11 not clashing with any international series, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remains firm on its policy of not issuing NOCs to all-format players due to a packed international calendar.

The decision mirrors the PCB’s recent stance on fast bowler Naseem Shah, who was also denied a NOC for The Hundred cricket league. Additionally, the Global T20 Canada has yet to receive approval from the International Cricket Council (ICC), further complicating the situation.

Other Pakistani players like Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Nawaz, Asif Ali, and Iftikhar Ahmed, who have contracts with the Canadian league, await the final decision which will be made post ICC’s approval. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the board’s commitment to player fitness, performance, and discipline as key criteria for NOC issuance.
