ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the launch of the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) Faceless Customs Assessment System will significantly benefit importers, reducing customs clearance time to just 19 hours.
Speaking after inaugurating the FBR system in Karachi, the prime minister noted that the initiative was the result of months of dedicated work by the cabinet, including Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister, state ministers, and the Chairman of the FBR.
“I chaired dozens of meetings in nine months to digitalize FBR and make it paperless,” the prime minister stated.
He emphasized that the Faceless Customs System would provide relief to importers by saving time and shielding them from extortion and blackmailing.
The PM highlighted that the system aims to eliminate corruption and boost revenue collection.
“This was what Quaid e Azam dreamt of Pakistan and Allama Iqbal thought of Pakistan and finally this dream is turned into reality,” he remarked.
The initiative is expected to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability, marking a significant milestone in the country’s move towards digital transformation.
