Democratic Congressman Tom Suozzi, in an exclusive interview with Bol News anchor Adil Abbasi at New York United States, expressed his gratitude for being invited to the show.
He acknowledged the longstanding and complex relationship between the two countries, stating that at times it has been strong and positive, while at other times it has faced challenges.
Tom Suozzi emphasized that his goal is to advance the relations between both nations moving forward. He stated that while he cannot predict how President Trump will handle these relations, he can assure that he will play an active role in this regard within Congress.
During the interview, host Adil Abbasi asked what steps Tom Suozzi plans to take, or has already taken, to contribute constructively to bilateral diplomatic relations.
In response, Tom Suozzi said that, firstly, he wishes to visit Pakistan. Secondly, he expressed a desire to organize a conference in Washington, D.C., where American and Pakistani diplomats, along with other relevant officials, could participate and discuss progress in Pakistan-US relations. He emphasized the importance of highlighting the need for American investors to invest in Pakistan.
Host Adil Abbasi then asked how Tom Suozzi views the relationship between Pakistan and the United States under President Trump’s leadership.
In response to the question, Tom Suozzi said that it’s impossible to predict what President Trump will do, and no one can answer that question. However, regarding the new president, he pointed out that we can look at the actions of the previous administration.
Tom Suozzi emphasized that Pakistan is a very important country, with significant strategic value, located in a crucial region. It is a nuclear power with a large population, a majority of which is young. He believes that Pakistan needs investment in the private sector, which he sees as the key to success and profitability.
Host Adil Abbasi asked if Tom Suozzi believes that the US administration’s interest in Afghanistan has remained the same after the war.
In response, Tom Suozzi stated that it is important to inform people that Pakistan has suffered greatly due to terrorism, not the United States, and that stability in relations should be built on this understanding.
Suozzi further explained that the goal is to see a stable and successful Pakistan in the future, as they do not want to see it destabilized, especially given that it is a nuclear power.
He mentioned that many Pakistanis are his friends, and he wants to see Pakistan progress. He added that he does not want to get involved in Pakistan’s politics, such as determining which Pakistani leaders align with the US government or the opposition.
