PSL 11 Faces Security and Logistical Challenges as Tournament Kicks Off Behind Closed Doors

Karachi/Lahore: The 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) has officially begun under tight security and significant restrictions, with all early matches being played without spectators and limited to just two host cities — Lahore and Karachi.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made the tough decision following consultations with the government, citing the ongoing Iran-US-Israel conflict and resulting fuel and security concerns. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that while the league will proceed on schedule, no crowds will be allowed in the stadiums for the initial phase.
Adding to the tension, a faction of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) issued a warning to foreign players, asking them to withdraw from the tournament citing safety issues. Despite the threats, most international players have arrived in Pakistan and are participating.
The tournament has also been expanded to eight teams this season, including two new franchises — Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindi Pindiz. However, the reduced venues and closed-door format have led to social media trolling, with some users jokingly calling it the “Petrol Shortage League.”
Cricket fans across Pakistan remain hopeful that the situation will improve soon so that the iconic PSL atmosphere can return in full force.
