The heavy rainfall lashed on Saturday night caused blockade of the Karakoram Highway at multiple points where two cars were damaged, while houses, main and link roads were damaged in the Tangir and Darail areas of the Diamer district of Gilgit Baltistan.
Raja Ishfaq Tahir, spokesperson to the district administration, Diamer told The Northern Post that two cars traveling on the KKH were damaged after a mudslide hit them, however, passengers aboard remained safe in the incident.
He said that KKH was blocked at nine different points in the Gandalo area of Chila, Diamer.
He said the rescue operation for pulling out the cars from the mudslide and removal of rubles from the KKH was underway.
The Diamer administration official said link roads, houses also damaged in Tangir tehsil of Diamer.
The Hunza deputy commissioner, Ghazanfar Ali said Misgar and Shimshal Road hve been blocked due to heavy rains received last night. Machinery was working to clear the Misgar road while the works department Hunza is mobilising machinery on Shimshal Road.
The KKH was blocked two days ago at different points between Dassu Kohistan and Diamer of GB.
