The organizers of the Aurat March in Islamabad have announced their intention to proceed with the rally today, March 8, 2025, despite not receiving formal permission from local authorities. The planned route is from the National Press Club to D-Chowk.

In response, police have implemented precautionary measures by closing access routes to the Red Zone, aiming to maintain public order during the event.

Dr. Farzana Bari, a prominent rights activist and key organizer, stated that a formal application for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) was submitted months ago, but no response has been received. The administration has suggested postponing the event due to the holy month of Ramadan.

In an open letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the organizers highlighted their ongoing struggles over the past six years to obtain an NOC, emphasizing that they have been denied their right to protest and ensure safety during the march.

The Aurat March is an annual event advocating for women’s rights and gender equality in Pakistan. Despite challenges in previous years, including opposition from conservative groups and administrative hurdles, the march has continued to serve as a platform for highlighting issues such as gender-based violence, economic justice, and bodily autonomy.

The situation remains dynamic, and participants are advised to stay updated on any developments regarding the march and related security measures.
