Four children died in boat incident buried at Dedal Kamach area of Nusrat Khel union council Shangla and Kandaro Torghar district on Thursday, search for the bodies is continue, in which local experts, Army SSGs and Tarbela dam’s divers from nearby districts are taking part.
Sub-divionsal police officer Puran, Shangla Zerab Gul Khan told Dawn that verification process of the passengers is in progress and about 10 people of the different villages of Nusrat Khel union council have been verified.
He said, in that out of 10 four dead bodies were recovered and buried in the area.
He identified the drowned as Itbarullah, Hafizullah, Bakhti Yar, Zahir Jalal of village Dedlal Pakhai. Umar Zada, Ms Tahiroon, Awais Khan-5 of Ramo Dedal.
Ms Yasmin Bibi, Inamul-Haq-2 and his sister Sidra Bibi-4 of Kandaro identified so far from the Shangla district.
DSP quoted that Shangla administration is in contact with the Haripur administration.
The DSP said, many of the drowned were from same families, fathers, spouses, sons and daughters.
The Boatman Nasib Jaan from Bher village Shangla, who saved his life by swim after the boat sank, says that six animals and over 50 passengers were on-board but don’t know how many have saved their lives after the boat sank.
“I stopped in several stations for getting on passengers from Shangla’s Dedal, Torghar, Darband of Mansehra and other stations. Due to movement of animal and flow of water the incident occurred,” He said.
MNA Ibadullah Khan from Shangla, who is present at the spot told Dawn that Army helicopter is also reached the spot for shifting dead bodies to respective areas but attempts are being made to pull out the dead bodies but the divers have not been succeeded.
