Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has expressed concerns about the extreme heatwaves in some regions of Sindh, making them unlivable. In his remarks, he highlighted the growing threat of climate change, which is significantly affecting the country, particularly regions like Sindh, where temperatures often exceed 50°C, making daily life increasingly unbearable.
Justice Shah emphasized the importance of environmental justice and the need for legal action to address the impacts of extreme weather conditions. He stated that climate change not only poses environmental challenges but also has wide-reaching effects on public health, socio-economic conditions, and overall human well-being.
He further noted that Pakistan is among the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world, and urgent steps are needed to mitigate the effects of climate change. Justice Shah also called for the judiciary’s role in ensuring climate justice through appropriate legal frameworks and action to protect the citizens, especially in the face of such environmental challenges.
