SHANGLA: Residents of the upper parts Kana tehsil here on Thursday came out onto roads protesting against closing of the National Database and Registration Authority Nadra facility.
The residents of Olandar, Damorai, Ajmir, Pirkhana, Belkanai and other parts of the Kana tehsil gathered at Olandar bazaar and staged demonstration against the shutting down of the Nadra center which closed permanently by Nadra authorities the other day.
Javid Khan, former tehsil councilor of Damorai union council, who led the protest, said that the Nadra authorities have asked the local staff to wind up the office following which the officials shut down the facility.
He claimed that in view of the public need and easier the facility was established by the member national assembly Ibadullah Khan in march this year but the current closed it permanently hence deprived the local people of basic right.
Zahoor Elahi, a local said that local people would face problems in making their identity cards with the suspension of service at Olandar which was recently opened for the local public.
He said, as local people would had to to Bisham or Alpuri for making their ID cards once again they have to spend a huge amount on travel expense for making their cards, other essential documents too.
Speakers at the protest said that they would appeal in the court against the federal government’s decision of closing Nadra offices in Shangla.
Meanwhile, MNA Ibadullah Khan said the PTI led government intended to close all projects initiated by PML-N in the past which is injustice with the public.
He said, he would meet the chairman Nadra in this regard and if the issue was not resolved and Nadra Olandar facility was not made functional again he would knock the doors of courts to challenge the decision of closing Nadra centers.
The protesters dispersed after negotiations with station house officer Olandar, Saeed Mahmood Khan, who assured them that their demand will be conveyed to the high ups.
HEAVY SNOWFALL: Shangla upper parts received first snowfall of the winter here on Thursday during three days consecutively rain and snowfall turning the district weather cold.
The Shangla upper parts including Shangla top, Yakhtangay, Ajmeer, Speen Ghar, Gamtal, Kapar Banda and other hilly areas received snowfall while blanketing the district mountains with snow.
Rain also lashed in plain areas at Bisham, Alpuri, Puran, Chakesar, Martung, Shahpur, Karora, Bely Baba, Dehrai, Dandai and other areas.
The rain continued for third day on Thursday which has turned the region weather cold plunging the mercury down after snowfall at hilly areas.
People in hilly areas also faced hardships due to snowfall as links roads were blocked due to snowfall and ladsliding.
