Social media has been flooded with false claims suggesting that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi met with Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan in jail during Khan’s three-day official visit to Pakistan in April.
The claims are unsubstantiated.
Claim:
A user on X (formerly Twitter) posted on April 22, “Breaking news: Iranian president meets Imran Khan in Adiala Jail and announced to play a role to get him out of jail.”
The user further alleged the presence of politicians Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Parvez Elahi during the supposed meeting.
“The Iranian president promised to play a role in releasing Imran Khan from jail,” the user added.
The post was accompanied by a video purportedly showing the news being broadcast on Pakistani news channels.
The post garnered over 100,000 views and nearly 900 likes.

Fact:
The Iranian embassy in Pakistan has denied the online claims of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi meeting with Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been held in a prison in Rawalpindi, Punjab, since August.
“Embassy of Iran disclaims such misinformation,” a senior embassy official told Geo Fact Check over the phone, requesting anonymity. “All meetings and calls in Pakistan were arranged with the official leaders and authorities of the country.”
Furthermore, Geo Fact Check found no news reports or evidence to support the claims that the Iranian president met Khan during his visit from April 22-24.
