HBL Pakistan Super League Tenth edition set to begin amid tough times for Pakistan cricket

​The 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL X) commenced on April 11, 2025, at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The opening match featured defending champions Islamabad United against Lahore Qalandars, marking the beginning of a 34-match tournament that will run until May 18, 2025. ​

The tournament follows a double round-robin format, with each of the six franchises—Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators—playing every other team twice. The top four teams will advance to the playoffs, culminating in the final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on May 18. ​

The opening ceremony was a grand affair, featuring performances by Ali Zafar, Shae Gill, Young Stunners, and a tribute to PSL’s decade-long journey. The official anthem, “X Dekho,” was unveiled during the event. ​

This edition holds special significance as it marks the final season under the current agreements for the six-team structure, title sponsorship, and broadcast rights. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans
