Despite Elon Musk’s vocal support for Donald Trump, a surprising trend has emerged among his employees at Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter). According to recent data from OpenSecrets, the workers at these companies have been significantly contributing to Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Tesla employees have donated over $42,000 to Harris, while Trump’s campaign has only seen around $24,000 from the same source. Similarly, SpaceX employees contributed nearly $35,000 to Harris, with only about $7,500 going to Trump. Even more striking, employees at X have donated $13,213 to Harris, compared to less than $500 for Trump.
This political divide contrasts with Musk’s increasingly right-leaning views, as he frequently criticizes liberal policies as part of a “woke-mind virus.” His backing of Trump, especially on social media, has raised eyebrows, yet his employees, many of whom are based in liberal-leaning California, seem to prefer Harris for the 2024 race. These donations underscore the potential ideological differences between Musk and his workforce(
