National Games to be held in Karachi from May 1: Sindh sports minister

​The 35th National Games are scheduled to take place in Karachi from May 1 to 9, 2025, as announced by Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Baksh Mahar. The event, organized under the supervision of the Sindh Olympic Association with support from the Sindh government, will feature athletes from across Pakistan, including provincial and departmental teams. ​

Preparations for the nine-day event are reportedly complete, with officials from various sports federations, associations, and Karachi’s district sports offices involved in the planning. The Sindh government has ensured logistical and security arrangements, including dedicated committees for media coverage and health services. Medical personnel and ambulances will be available at all venues, and special arrangements are planned for local hospitals. ​

The Games will be held at 21 venues across Karachi, featuring 34 sports events and involving approximately 10,000 male and female athletes. Participants will include teams from all provinces, as well as the Pakistan Army, Navy, Air Force, and other departments. The opening and closing ceremonies are expected to be attended by prominent dignitaries, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
