PCB accuses ICC of sidelining it from Champions Trophy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed dissatisfaction with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over its exclusion from the Champions Trophy 2025 closing ceremony. Despite Pakistan hosting the event, no PCB representative was present on stage during the final presentation in Dubai.

Traditionally, officials from the host nation participate in such ceremonies. However, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was unable to attend due to health reasons. Although PCB Chief Operating Officer and Tournament Director Sumair Ahmed Syed were present at the final match, they were not invited to join the presentation party.

The ICC addressed the situation, stating that no PCB office-bearer was available for the ceremony. An ICC spokesperson explained that only office bearers are called for trophy presentations, and since Mr. Naqvi did not travel, no PCB official was available to participate.

This incident has led to criticism from fans and officials, who view the absence of PCB representation as a slight against the host nation. The PCB is reportedly planning to raise the issue with the ICC to seek clarification and address their concerns.
