PCB to Announce T20 World Cup 2024 Squad After First T20I Against England

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in a challenging position as it finalizes the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. According to Geo News, the PCB will announce the squad after the first match of the T20I series against England on May 22, as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has set a deadline of May 25.
Haris Rauf, Usman Khan, and Salman Ali Agha did not play in the recent series in Ireland, while Hasan Ali, who was added as Rauf’s backup, played one match. Sources indicate that Rauf will need to prove his fitness in the coming days to secure his spot in the World Cup squad. Usman, Salman, and Hasan are expected to be included as traveling reserves.
Pakistan is in Group A for the World Cup, along with India, Ireland, Canada, and the USA. The team’s first match is against the USA on June 6 in Dallas, followed by a highly anticipated game against India on June 9 in New York.
After the three-match T20I series against Ireland, the Pakistani team has arrived in England to play four T20Is from May 22 to 30. This series will be their final preparation before the World Cup begins in the United States.

June 6: Pakistan vs. USA, Dallas
June 9: Pakistan vs. India, New York
June 11: Pakistan vs. Canada, New York
June 16: Pakistan vs. Ireland, Lauderhill
The upcoming T20I series against England will be crucial for both teams as the World Cup kicks off just two days after the series concludes.
