SHANGLA: Local residents of Ali Jaan Kaparai area of tehsil Chakesar have started road clearance work on the link road on a self-help basis connecting the densely populated area with the rest of the district at Dandai area of Bisham tehsil.
They started removal of rubles from the road fallen on the roads in over 20 points during the recent rainfall which had caused a blockade of it due to which they have been suffering for the last two weeks.
Fazal Akbar, a local resident who himself work on the road, said that they had collected funds for foods and other expenditures from the hotels of Thakot bazaar, while people from all houses located in the area worked on the road jointly.
He said it was completely self-help work by the locals they started on Saturday to reopen the road for all sorts of traffic so that people could shift grocery to their houses where the shortage of foods was arising.
Bakht Zamin, an elder, claimed that they had visited almost every political leader, district and tehsil administration but returned disappointed as they excused to their Jirga.
“We all are actively participating in the joint work of road clearance and removing the debris of the landslides to open it for traffic as soon as possible because we are facing problems in bringing food items and shifting patients to hospitals,” He said.
Hatak Khan, another local resident, said approximately 5 kilometers of 20 kilometers had been cleared of rubles and work was continued on it and would take 5 more days to reopen for all sorts of traffic it.
According to the sources link roads in Bisham, Chakesar, Puran, Martung, Kana and Alpuri tehsils have been blocked for the last two weeks of flash floods and torrential rain due to lack of resources and funds with the district administration and executing agencies.
MURDERER ARRESTED: Alpuri police claimed to have arrested accused of the blind murder in which a man was killed at Shalmanu area of Pir Abad in Alpuri tehsil the other day.
Station house officer, Alpuri, Muhammad Arif Khan, said that a man was killed and his 9 years old daughter was injured at Shalmanu area the other day and the accused had fled the scene after committing the crime.
He said, following the FIR registration their round the clock investigation with the help of technology they reached the accused and arrested him, and produced before the court.
SHO, said the accused had told in his statement that he was wanting a piece of land of the deceased for which he had killed him.
