PM Sharif emphasized that the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts will persist until extremist elements are completely eliminated. He highlighted that the nation’s enemies are intimidated by Pakistan’s economic progress and are attempting to destabilize the country through terror.

This resolute stance aligns with the objectives of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, launched in June 2024. The operation aims to decisively end extremism and terrorism through coordinated military actions and socio-economic initiatives .

The renewed focus on counter-terrorism comes amid a surge in militant activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) termination of a ceasefire in November 2022 .

In response to these challenges, PM Sharif has called for national unity and assured provincial governments of full support to enhance their counter-terrorism capabilities .
