Real Madrid implode after 3rd Clasico defeat

Real Madrid’s season has taken a significant downturn following their third consecutive El Clásico defeat to Barcelona in the 2024–25 campaign. The latest setback occurred on April 26, 2025, when Barcelona secured a 3–2 victory in the Copa del Rey final, completing a season sweep over their archrivals. This loss follows a 4–0 thrashing in La Liga on October 26, 2024, and a 5–2 defeat in the Spanish Super Cup final in January 2025.

The October defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu was particularly damaging, ending Real Madrid’s 42-match unbeaten run in La Liga. Robert Lewandowski scored twice, with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha adding to the tally, marking Kylian Mbappé’s first Clásico appearance with a heavy loss.

These consecutive defeats have intensified scrutiny on manager Carlo Ancelotti, whose future at the club is now uncertain. Speculation suggests he may depart this summer, with reports linking him to the Brazil national team coaching position.

Barcelona’s dominance under new manager Hansi Flick has been a defining narrative of the season. Since his appointment in May 2024, Flick has led the team to victories in all three Clásicos, including the recent Copa del Rey triumph.
