Shannen Doherty, known for her role in Beverly Hills, passed away on Saturday, July 13, at the age of 53, following a battle with breast cancer that began in 2015. After her initial diagnosis, Doherty underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment.
In November 2023, Doherty shared with People how working on her memoir-style podcast, “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty,” helped her cope with her stage 4 cancer journey. She often recorded multiple episodes in a single day, which she said saved her from feeling depressed.
“Listen, you’re seeing me on a good day,” Doherty told People. “But I’ve noticed that when I’m working and being creative, there’s no room for depression. It fuels me.” She added that her work brought her happiness and spoke about her strong discipline and work ethic, saying, “It’s invigorating.”
Doherty also opened up about the challenges she faced, telling People, “It’s hard to find yourself suddenly single in your 50s, and with stage four cancer. That was super depressing for a while.” Despite these challenges, she remained determined and debuted her podcast the following month, where she discussed her career highs and health journey.
People also reported that Doherty participated in her final cover shoot just four days before Thanksgiving last year. During the shoot, she shared her hopes and plans for the future, stating, “I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not — I’m not done.”
