Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism, emphasizing a “relentless fight” against extremist elements. In a high-level meeting on national security and law and order, he declared that the nation’s struggle to eliminate terrorism would continue with full force, aiming to deliver a decisive defeat to terrorist groups .
The Prime Minister lauded the sacrifices of security forces and assured provincial governments of federal support to enhance their counter-terrorism capabilities. He stressed the importance of national unity in confronting the threat of terrorism, urging all political and institutional stakeholders to set aside differences and work collaboratively .
This renewed focus on combating terrorism comes in the wake of recent attacks, including the hijacking of the Jaffar Express by insurgents, which resulted in the deaths of 25 people, including civilians and security personnel . The government has also launched Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, a comprehensive counter-insurgency initiative aimed at eliminating extremist threats and promoting socio-economic development in affected regions
