Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has praised Shadab Khan’s leadership and performances for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10. Akhtar described Shadab as a “very smart player” and an essential part of the team, highlighting his ability to keep the team united and prevent issues from arising.
While emphasizing his admiration for Shadab as a bowler, Akhtar also acknowledged his batting contributions, especially in high-pressure situations. He stressed the importance of a positive team environment, stating that players perform better when supported, and that creating difficulties for them can negatively impact their performance.
Additionally, Akhtar defended Azam Khan, the wicketkeeper-batter, who has faced criticism recently. He praised Azam’s power-hitting skills and suggested that he focus on improving his fitness to silence critics.
Under Shadab Khan’s captaincy, Islamabad United has achieved significant success, including winning the PSL 2024 for a record third time.
