Traders and transporters in parts of Malakand and Hazara divisions observed shutter-down and wheel-jam strike across the region against the current unbearable inflation and inflated bills with several kinds of additional taxes.
The shutter down and wheel-jam strike being observed across both divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday was called by the trade unions after the caretaker government failed to provide relief to the electricity consumers and increased fuel prices further.
The traders closed the markets since morning in Shangla, Bisham, Alpuri, Puran, Swat, Mingora, Khwazakhela, Barikot, Dir Timergara, Warai, also in Malakand, Butkhela, Dargai.
The strike was also held in parts of the Hazara division, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, and other areas of the region where traders closed markets and transporters parked their vehicles.
Meanwhile, in Battagram the Jamat-I-Islami local chapter blocked the road and held a protest rally, chanting slogans against the Wapda, Pesco, and government and demanding relief in power bills and reduction in inflation.
