SHANGLA: The district administration Shangla in collaboration with the Pakistan Red-crescent Society launched Volunteer Task Force on Thursday, 100 youth were earlier selected for the force from each union council of the district.
The Volunteer Task Force launching ceremony was held at government polytechnic college, Alpuri. Where the deputy commissioner Shangla, Imran Hussain Ranjha was chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Maqbool Hussain, Assistant Commissioner, Alpuri, Wajid Ali, Sub-divisional forest officer, Shakeel Khan, Secretory PRCS, Shangla, Jamal Hasnain Fawad, Arshad Ahmed and selected volunteers from across the district.
Addressing at the launching ceremony, DC Shangla, Mr Ranjha said that it was the provincial government initiative for reducing the distance between the public and administration.
He said, the volunteer task force would take part in rescue work, tourists facilitation, helping people in snowbound areas and playing a role between the administration and public as well as highlighting issues of their respective areas.
The DC welcomed and appreciated the 100 volunteers, who came from all 28 union councils of Shangla, also urged them to work for the uplift of Shangla.
The Shangla admin informed the volunteer force about the Malakand division tourism strategy 2020 and asked them to take part in the activities.
Jamal Hasnain, the PRCS district secretory, said that PRCS would keep a close coordination with the volunteer task force to get their help during the natural disasters and other incidents as the volunteers main them was to provide first aid to wounded people in disasters and incidents.
The forest department on the occasion, distributed saplings among the volunteer task force members, while the DC Shangla and other officials planted saplings at the polytechnic college on the occasion.
