MULTAN: West Indies, under the captaincy of Kraigg Brathwaite, achieved a commanding 120-run victory over Pakistan on Monday, leveling the two-match series 1-1 at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan fell short, being dismissed for 133 while chasing a target of 254.
Pakistan resumed their innings at 76/4, but the batting line-up collapsed under pressure. Kevin Sinclair’s crucial wicket of Saud Shakeel, dismissed for 13, reduced Pakistan to 76/5. Jomel Warrican followed up by sending Kashif Ali back for a single run, leaving Pakistan at 76/6.
Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha provided some hope with a 39-run partnership, but Warrican dismissed Salman for 15. Rizwan was also sent packing for 25, leaving Pakistan at 122/8.
Noman Ali hit a six but was dismissed for six runs, and Sajid Ali was the final wicket to fall, giving West Indies a historic victory, their first Test win over Pakistan on home soil since 1990.
Warrican’s outstanding bowling performance, claiming 5/27, led the way for West Indies, with Sinclair contributing with three wickets and Motie taking two.
Earlier in the match, Pakistan’s spinners had dominated the West Indies’ first innings, dismissing them for 244.
