SHANGLA: International forests day was observed in various places of Shangla district on Thursday, planting different plants species, officials, teachers and students took part in the events.
To mark international day of forests, events held in district headquarters Alpuri, sub-division Karora and other areas of Shangla district. Central event was held at DPO office Shangla, where DPO Sayed Rasool Shah, SP investigation, Assistant Commissioner Alpuri, police and line departments officials planted different species of saplings to celebrate the international forests day.
Divisional Forests officer, Adnan Ali, said on the occasion that the Forest Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on way to achieve the Target of 10 Billion Trees Tsunami Program and district Shangla is contributing to the project immensely.
“We have begun a Plantation drive today on eve of International Day of Forest, in which different species of saplings to be planted, which will continue till next month,” the DFO, said. He added local people will be involved in this mass plantation.
In Bisham, The Karora sub-division of forest has organised events at police station Bisham and educational institutions where the students were guided about the importance of plantation and forests.
Sub-divisional forest officer, Zahid Hussain, urged the teachers and students to take part in the afforestation activities and inform your relatives about the importance and the forests benefits.
