In response to recent U.S. airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in Yemen, tens of thousands of Yemenis have taken to the streets in major cities, including the capital, Sanaa, to protest the attacks. Demonstrators chanted slogans such as “Death to America” and “Death to Israel,” expressing their anger over the U.S. military actions.

The U.S. Department of Defense reported that these airstrikes, which have continued for three days, resulted in the deaths of at least 53 individuals, including children. The strikes were conducted in retaliation to Houthi threats to resume attacks on shipping in the Red Sea unless humanitarian aid was allowed into Gaza.

President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, holding it accountable for the actions of Yemen’s Houthi rebels. He stated that any future Houthi aggression would be considered as coming directly from Iran, raising the potential for a broader conflict in the Middle East.

In retaliation, Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi threatened to target U.S. ships and escalate operations if the U.S. persists in its strikes. The Houthis have previously disrupted global trade through attacks in the Red Sea, a key shipping route, and their recent threats align with their demands for Israel to lift the blockade on Gaza.

The United Nations has called for restraint to prevent further escalation in the region, warning that continued hostilities could further destabilize Yemen and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.

These developments underscore the complex and volatile situation in Yemen, with the potential for broader regional implications if tensions continue to escalate.
