Sanaa/Jerusalem: Yemen’s Houthi rebels have fired a missile towards Israel for the first time since the US-Israel war on Iran began, marking a significant escalation as the conflict enters its second month.
The Iran-aligned group confirmed the attack, stating it was in solidarity with Iran and in response to ongoing Israeli and American strikes on Iranian targets. Israeli air defence systems were activated, and no immediate casualties were reported from the strike.
This development comes as the broader Middle East conflict intensifies. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Washington hopes to conclude the war “in weeks, not months,” while Israeli officials have vowed to “intensify and expand” operations against Iran. The Houthis’ entry has raised fears of a wider regional war involving the “Axis of Resistance.”
Analysts warn that the attack could further disrupt global shipping routes, especially with the Strait of Hormuz already under pressure due to the conflict.
