At the closing session of the 7th National Maritime Security Workshop, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that Pakistan is paying a heavy price due to terrorism. He expressed that the country’s officers and soldiers are sacrificing their lives for the future of the people.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Pakistan Navy is ensuring the protection of maritime boundaries and possesses the full capability to tackle challenges in this regard.
He also stressed the importance of the Blue Economy, noting that it is central to Pakistan’s economic future. The Navy is taking various measures to make the most of maritime resources, he added.
Further, the Prime Minister mentioned that China is ready to offer cooperation in the maritime sector, and that the development of the Blue Economy is essential for Pakistan’s growth and prosperity.
He also acknowledged the strategic importance of the Gwadar port in Pakistan’s economic development.
Reaffirming his commitment to combating terrorism, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that both the government and the armed forces are determined to eradicate terrorism, as was achieved in 2018. However, he noted that, unfortunately, terrorism has resurfaced.
