President Asif Ali Zardari is scheduled to address a joint session of Pakistan’s Parliament today, marking the commencement of the new parliamentary year. The session is set to begin at 3:00 PM, with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq presiding.

In his address, President Zardari is expected to outline the federal government’s performance over the past year, focusing on achievements in economic policies, national security, and regional issues, including the situations in Kashmir and Palestine. He will also emphasize the importance of national unity and consensus on critical issues facing the country.

Stringent security measures have been implemented at the Parliament House for the session. Entry for guests has been prohibited, and media representatives will be allowed in limited numbers. The session will be attended by members of the National Assembly and Senate, as well as service chiefs, foreign ambassadors, governors, and chief ministers.

There is anticipation of potential protests from members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party during the address, as they have previously demonstrated in the House over the past year, demanding the release of their leader, Imran Khan, who has been imprisoned for over a year.

This will be President Zardari’s eighth address to a joint session of Parliament, reflecting his ongoing role in the nation’s political landscape.
