The Lahore High Court (LHC) has condemned the Kasur police over a viral video showing arrested individuals—some with shaved heads—being publicly humiliated during a raid on an alleged dance party. Justice Ali Zia Bajwa described the incident as “unacceptable in any society” and questioned the legal basis for such actions. The video, which also included scenes from an Indian film, was widely circulated on social media, prompting public outrage.
The raid occurred on April 4 at a farmhouse near Pakki Havali village, where 30 men and 25 women were arrested on charges of obscene dancing, drug use, and violating noise regulations. A local court later discharged the suspects due to insufficient evidence. Following the incident, Kasur District Police Officer (DPO) Essa Khan Sukhera suspended five police officials involved in sharing the video.
During court proceedings, Justice Bajwa issued contempt notices to the Station House Officer (SHO), an investigation officer, and a constable. He also summoned the Punjab advocate general and the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police to explain how such actions were permitted and to ensure accountability. The court emphasized that the exposure of suspects violated their dignity and privacy rights.
