Prominent Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former Speaker of the Sindh Provincial Assembly, Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, passed away on October 15, 2025, at a private hospital in Karachi, aged 72, succumbing to kidney disease after nearly a month of intensive treatment. Born on October 5, 1953, in Shikarpur to a storied political family—his father Agha Sirajuddin Durrani also served as Speaker—Durrani held the Speaker’s position from 2013 to 2024, becoming the 12th in Sindh’s history and marking three generations of Durranis in the role.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah echoed condolences, praising his principled leadership and contributions to Sindh’s political stability. Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon called his services “unforgettable.” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi highlighted his dedication to the rule of law.
Social media overflowed with tributes, from ARY News’ breaking alerts to fans mourning a “dignified” figure. Durrani’s death leaves a void in PPP’s Sindh chapter, with funeral prayers expected soon.
