Sindh’s cultural heritage among oldest in world: CM

KARACHI:
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday lauded Karachi’s successful hosting of the 39-day World Culture Festival, which brought together more than 1,000 artists from 142 countries.

Addressing a grand ceremony at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, coinciding with Sindhi Culture Day, he termed the achievement “historic and unprecedented” for Sindh and Pakistan.

The chief minister congratulated ACP Karachi President Mohammad Ahmed Shah for what he called a milestone in Pakistan’s cultural landscape. “Karachi has opened its arms to the world, welcoming artists from across continents. This highlights Sindh’s enduring spirit of peace, tolerance, and hospitality,” he said.

Shah noted the symbolic significance of the festival concluding on Sindhi Culture Day, calling it a “delightful coincidence” that united global art with Sindh’s heritage.

He cited Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Sheikh Ayaz, AR Nagori, Musarrat Mirza, Muhammad Jumman, and Abida Parveen as icons of Sindh’s message of peace and love.

CM thanked foreign missions and performers, declaring Karachi a “global cultural capital” and Sindh a land of diversity and creativity.

Lost cities of the Indus Delta

CM Murad Ali Shah has said that the province’s cultural heritage and scientific tradition are among the oldest in the world.

He added that the provincial government plans to establish Magnifying Science Centres in Larkana and Sukkur.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of an interactive exhibition titled Lost Cities of the Indus Delta at the Dawood Foundation’s MagnifiScience Centre on Sindhi Cultural Day.

The event was attended by Dawood Foundation Chairman Hussain Dawood, members of the Dawood family, educationists, students, researchers and civil society representatives.
