Veteran actor Javed Sheikh has called for a reduction in electricity bills for cinemas, arguing that high energy costs are making it increasingly difficult for the film industry to survive.
Speaking at a recent event, Sheikh emphasized that cinema owners are struggling with rising operational expenses, particularly due to inflated power tariffs. He suggested that the government should introduce special concessions for cinemas to help lower ticket prices and attract audiences back to theaters.
According to him, affordable ticket rates are essential to revive the cinema culture, which has seen a decline in recent years. By reducing electricity costs, cinema operators could pass on the benefits to moviegoers, making entertainment more accessible to the general public.
Industry stakeholders have welcomed the proposal, noting that financial relief could provide much-needed support to struggling cinemas and boost local film production.
