Punjab Film City set to reshape creative industry

The Punjab government has announced the development of a major Film City project in Lahore, aimed at transforming the region’s creative and entertainment industry.

Spanning 50 acres, the Punjab Film City will be built within the Nawaz Sharif IT City, forming part of a broader push to integrate technology and media production.

Officials say the project will serve as Pakistan’s first fully integrated, end-to-end production hub, bringing film, television, animation, and digital media facilities under one roof.

The facility is expected to include modern studios, sound stages, post-production labs, training institutes, and dedicated shooting locations, allowing filmmakers to complete projects locally without relying on foreign resources.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that the initiative aims to revive the country’s struggling film industry, create thousands of jobs, and provide opportunities for young artists and creators.

Experts believe the Film City could position Punjab as a regional hub for creative excellence, boosting investment, encouraging local talent, and showcasing Pakistan’s cultural identity on a global stage.
