Six people were killed when a propane-butane cylinder exploded at a restaurant in the city of Most, located in northwest Czech Republic, setting the building ablaze, emergency services reported on Sunday.
Eight individuals were injured in the explosion, which took place late Saturday night.
Additionally, 30 people were evacuated from the restaurant and nearby buildings, as reported by the Czech fire rescue service on X (formerly Twitter).
Witnesses initially reported that a heater had overturned, triggering the fire, according to the fire brigade.
Interior Minister Vit Rakusan suggested that the cause was likely an overturned propane-butane heater in the restaurant’s front garden.
The fire brigade also rescued one guest who was seriously injured and trapped in a bathroom. Approximately 20 guests were inside the restaurant when the explosion occurred, Czech Radio stated.
