SHANGLA: Deputy Commissioner Shangla Fayaz Khan Sherpaw has said that socio-eccnomic development was essential for the least developed Shangla district, 500 families will be benefited from skill training and 500 for asset transfer. It will also helpful for the line department to avoid duplication in development funds.
He was addressing district development forum here at Alpuri on Thursday, also chaired the session which was organized by SRSP with the support of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund PPAF under the Livelihood Support and Promotion of Small Community Infrastructure Project (LACIP).
It was also attended by ACs of all respective tehsils and line department officials.
“The district development forum was established by the provincial government in 2014 as result of PPAF to ensure development funding for the communities by donors is not duplicated,” Nisar Ahmed Khan, PPAF, coordinator said.
He briefly shared background of the DDF, SRSP and social mobilization they carried out as the basis of community development and the same will be followed as part of poverty alleviation measures planed under LACIP-II project in four union councils of district Shangla.
Kashan Najeeb, Assistant Manager PPAF said while discussing background of the DDF, that provincial government of KP issued a notification in 2014 for seven districts of KP including Shangla to establish the forum in order to build synergies for development initiatives in the district.
Describing the project, the said that LACIP-II project will be implemented in two phases, design phases followed by implementation phase, adding that first phase has kicked off from December 2018 and will end in Jun 2019, while implementation phase is planned from July 2019 to December 2020.
Abdul Qahar, District Project Manager, SRSP, said that 1,000 beneficiaries who are identified through baseline data and 50 per cent of families will be benefited from skill training and 50 percent for asset transfer.
He said poor households and women are paid special attention in development activities.
He presented a detailed presentation about planning and progress of activities being undertaken in 4 UCs of the district, Bengalai, Musa Khel, Shang and Malak Khel.
DC Shangla Fayaz Khan Sherpaw on the occasion highly appreciated the LACIP-II project and expressed this thanks to the donor for spending huge funds for socio-eccnomic development of district Shangla.
He suggested consulting existing ADPs, DG CDLD schemes and village development plans at this stage to avoid duplication of schemes and ensure integration with the government planes.
