SHANGLA: Bisham city and its surroundings badly hit by power outage, power supply has been suspended in the area for three days suffering the local people.
Local people of Bisham city and its outskirts told reporters on Tuesday that the power supply was disrupted after a light rain lashed on Sunday night which could not be restored till Tuesday.
They said, on one hand due to low voltage electric appliances were damaged in their houses, on the other hand excessive power outage has made their life miserable.
Naveed Ahmed, a local said that Pesco is observing 20-22 hours loadsheding in 24 hours, whereas when clouds appeared over the sky Pesco suspend the power supply to the area.
“Although we hardly use 10-20 units in a month, Pesco sends bills thousands of rupees, due to massive power outage we faced difficulties because Bisham weather is too much hot,” he said.
Asad Khan, a trader in Bisham city said that despite assurances of Pesco officials in a protest they had staged in Bisham chowk a week ago, the promise could be implemented yet.
He said, a 132KV grid station in Shang has been hanging for last 4 years that was supposed to be made operational within a month in May, 2013 but the Pesco had failed to complete the grid station project within the scheduled time which caused severe problem to the masses of Bisham and Chakesar tehsils.
Pesco officials told Dawn this scribe that due to overloading they observe loadsheding because the small grid station in Bisham could not run the load of entire Bisham tehsil, also faults develops in transmission line owing rainfalls.
They added, if 132 grid station was started the power supply issue of the area would be resolved forever because main connecting of power given from a local 72MW Khan Khwar hydropower project.
The consumers of electricity, however demanded of the Pesco authorities to take action of the issue and ensure smoothly, full voltage supply of power to them, otherwise they would come onto streets for agitation.
Meanwhile, In view of predicted flash floods the deputy commissioner Shangla, Fayaz Khan Sherpaw has imposed ban on swimming in the rivers of the district to avoid any unwanted incidents.
The DC Shangla issued a notification here the other day banning on swimming in the rivers under section 144-of CrPc.
The notification said that the ban will remain imposed for next sixty days and police department has been ordered to register FIRs against violators.
It said that measures were being taken to secure lives of the public.
