SHANGLA: The residents of Puran and Martung tehsils blocked main Aloch-Puran road here on Friday against prolonged power outage and over billing, demanded power supply from local power projects.
The protest was called by the local elders at the tehsil headquarters, Aloch on Friday.
Former provincial minister Haji Abdul Munim, Mulana Abdul Malik, Sherin Zada, Sultan Ahmed president of local committee, Noor Faraz, Afsarul Mulk from Martung and Fazal Subhan addressed the protesters.
They said electricity supply to Puran, Martung and Makhozi tehsil had been suspended from the last two days due to a technical fault and Pesco observed 12-15 hours loadsheding which had put them in troubles.
Sultan Ahmed, the local committee president, said they had been seeking a separate grid station for Puran and Martung because of low voltage, but to no avail.
“Uninterrupted and smooth power supply is our right as we pay bills to Pesco regularly although they send inflated bills without conducting meter reading. Even due to low voltage we cannot charge mobile phones,” He deplored.
He added that the local residents and pedestrians also faced problems due to severe filthy environment, pollution because the traders thrown waste, rusted vegetable and fruits into the stream passed through the main bazaar.
Fazal Subhan Afghani, a local said they had feed up of the excessive loadsheding and low voltage and the low voltage electricity did not fulfill their needs.
He said those people can afford had buy power generators, UPS and Solar panels and fulfilling their needs of electricity but middle and poor class suffering.
He said Shangla was producing 90-megawatt electricity in locally built power hydro projects and the district need was just 4MW but locals deprived of this basic right.
Noor Faraz, said they had become mentally sick due to the Telenor cellular network poor service and being first and sole network in the area most of the local people used Telenor but it took hours in dialing number and its internet was too poor.
He urged the Telenor network management to improve the service for the local people ease.
The ruling party Former MPA Abdul Munim, assured the protesters that repair work on the power supply line was in progress and would be restored very soon, however the grid station issue would be take up with the concerned authorities.
RAIN: The intermittent rain continued across the Shangla district also snowfall at upper parts, increased the cold in the area.
The rain started on Tuesday continued intermittently on Friday for third consecutive day, while upper parts including Shangla top, Ajmeer, Speenghar, Gamtal, Kapar Banda received light snowfall which increased cold in the area.
