Two children died and several others were affected due to measles in Kamach union council of Martung tehsil as the health department sent a team to the area for vaccination of children on Tuesday.
The sudden emergence of measles cases in Kharaw area also confirmed by the health department of Shangla and engaged the expanded program on immunization EPI teams in the affected locality to vaccinate the children against the disease.
Ibadullah Khan, a local resident of Kamach, told The Northern Post that two children had died due to the measles epidemic and four other critical children shifted to a hospital in Bunir.
He said the infection cases emerged at mountainous area Kharaw where two children identified as Suliman-4 and Hassan Mena-1 year old died.
He said the number of measles cases were increasing with each passing day and affected the village Kharaw.
The district health officer, DHO Shangla has also formed 12 members team and dispatched to the affected area to investigate the reason for the sudden surface measles cases in the area.
