Air India crash probe enters final stages after cockpit recorder, psychology reviews

New Delhi, July 13: The investigation into the recent Air India crash has entered its final phase after authorities completed detailed examinations of the aircraft’s cockpit voice recorder, flight data recorder, and psychological assessments related to the crew. Officials say the findings will help determine the chain of events that led to the tragedy.

Investigators have spent weeks analyzing thousands of data points recovered from the aircraft’s “black boxes,” reconstructing the flight’s final moments and reviewing cockpit conversations. Aviation experts have also examined aircraft systems, maintenance records, weather conditions, and air traffic control communications to build a comprehensive picture of the incident.

As part of the inquiry, specialists conducted psychological and human factors assessments to evaluate decision-making, workload, fatigue, and operational pressures that may have affected the flight crew. Officials stressed that such reviews are standard practice in major aviation accident investigations and should not be interpreted as evidence of fault.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), supported by international aviation experts and the aircraft manufacturer, is expected to finalize its report after completing technical verification and peer review. The report will identify the probable cause of the crash and include safety recommendations aimed at preventing similar accidents in the future.

Air India has pledged full cooperation with investigators throughout the process and reiterated its commitment to implementing any safety measures recommended in the final report. The airline has also continued to provide assistance to the families of those affected by the accident.

Aviation analysts say the final report is likely to influence safety procedures across the industry, particularly if it identifies operational or technical issues requiring broader regulatory action. The investigation’s conclusions are expected to contribute to strengthening aviation safety standards both in India and internationally.
