Additional IG Investigation Azhar Akram chaired an important video link meeting. The meeting was attended by AIG Khalid Mahmood Afzal, DSP Legal One Investigation Punjab Qadeer Anwar, DSP RMU Muhammad Imran Naeem, and district SSPs Investigation, SSPs RIB, and other officers via video link. The meeting reviewed the arrest and challan rates of those involved in heinous cases from the previous year. The arrest of Category A proclaimed offenders, investigations related to cases of women and children, and other related matters were also discussed. District police officers briefed on the implementation of high court orders regarding the timely completion of challans. Additional IG Investigation Punjab instructed to resolve the pending challans from the previous year immediately with the cooperation of the prosecution and to submit certificates within 4 days. He also directed the CPOs and DPOs to prepare lists of the top 20, A Category POs and take necessary actions for their arrest.
Additionally, the officers were instructed to ensure that all pending challans of 2024 are cleared immediately and certificates are issued within 4 days, and that SSPs Investigation play their supervisory role in ensuring timely submission of challans. CPOs and DPOs were advised to ensure that the court orders are implemented under their supervision and that pending challans are completed as soon as possible. Additional IG Azhar Akram further emphasized that supervisory officers should ensure that interim challans are submitted to the court within 17 days. District officers must ensure the implementation of the Anti-Rape Investigation and Trial Act 2021 and read Section 22 regarding it.
