ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Development Working Party (IDWP) has approved key projects, including the hiring of consultants for feasibility studies, detailed designs, and land acquisition for establishing a Special Protection Unit.
In a meeting chaired by Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Friday, approval was also granted to engage consultants for feasibility studies and detailed engineering designs for constructing government officers’ residences.
The IDWP further approved the PC-II for creating a Counter-Terrorism Department and establishing canine centers in Islamabad. Additionally, a project for constructing buildings for eight police stations in the capital was sanctioned, along with plans for improving road infrastructure in rural areas of Islamabad.
Chief Commissioner Randhawa emphasized the need for third-party validation for all ongoing and future projects. He directed that no payments should be made without this validation. The commissioner also stressed the importance of engaging consultants for every project presented during IDWP meetings.
For the first time, the meeting included participation from Member Engineering and Member Planning of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Their involvement aims to align all projects with the Islamabad Master Plan.
