Doha, July 28: Pakistan and Qatar have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral security cooperation and expanding collaboration into new strategic areas during a high-level meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and senior Qatari officials in Doha.
The discussions focused on enhancing coordination in internal security, law enforcement, counterterrorism, border management, and the exchange of expertise between the two countries. Both sides also explored opportunities to broaden cooperation in technology, investment, training, and institutional capacity-building.
Naqvi underscored the importance Pakistan attaches to its longstanding relationship with Qatar, describing the Gulf nation as a trusted partner. He said closer cooperation would contribute to regional stability while opening new avenues for mutually beneficial engagement.
Qatari officials reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties with Pakistan, expressing interest in expanding collaboration beyond traditional security matters. They highlighted the potential for greater cooperation in areas such as digital innovation, economic development, and public administration.
The meeting also reviewed progress on existing bilateral initiatives and emphasized the need for sustained dialogue and regular exchanges between relevant institutions. Both delegations agreed to maintain close coordination on issues of shared interest and explore mechanisms for implementing future joint projects.
Pakistan and Qatar have enjoyed strong diplomatic and economic relations for decades, with cooperation spanning energy, trade, investment, labour, and security. Officials from both countries expressed confidence that the latest discussions would further strengthen the strategic partnership and pave the way for deeper collaboration in the years ahead.
